Abstract: 〔Abstract〕 Objective To explore the application value of socket shield technique (SST) in immediate implantation for the treatment of single tooth loss in the anterior molars. Methods A total of 25 patients with single dental implantation in the anterior molar area who were admitted to Xiamen Siming District Xiagang Street Community Health Service Center from January 2018 to May 2020 were selected and divided into two groups by random number table method. The observation group with 13 cases received SST combined with immediate implantation, and the control group with 12 cases received immediate implantation alone. The soft tissue aesthetics, pain, quality of life, labial bone plate thickness changes and implant stability were compared between the two groups before and after operation. Results One year after operation, the visual analogue scale (VAS) score of the observation group was lower than that of the control group, and the pink esthetic score (PES) was higher than that of the control group (P < 0.05). The changes of bone plate thickness of 1 mm-IS, 3 mm-IS and 5 mm-IS in the observation group were smaller than those in the control group immediately after operation (P < 0.05). One year after operation, the implant stability quotient (ISQ) score of the observation group was higher than that of the control group (P < 0.05). The oral health impact profile (OHIP-20) score of the two groups at 1 year after operation was lower than that before operation, and the score of the observation group was lower than that of the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion SST combined with immediate implantation in the treatment of patients with single dental implant in the anterior molars can reduce the absorption of labial bone plate, improve the stability of the implant, help to relieve pain, enhance the aesthetics of restoration, and improve the quality of life of patients.
