Abstract:〔Abstract〕 Objective To analyze the effect of polyethylene glycol combined biofeedback therapy in patients with chronic functional constipation and anxiety. Methods A total of 140 patients with chronic functional constipation accompanied by anxiety and depression diagnosed and treated in Zhongda Hospital Affiliated to Southeast University from May 2019 to May 2022 were selected and divided into an observation group and a control group by double-blind method, with 70 patients in each group. The control group received drug therapy, and the observation group was given biofeedback therapy on the basis of the treatment of the control group. The constipation symptom score, self-rating anxiety scale score, quality of life score (physiological function, body pain, social function, mental health, vitality) and the incidence of adverse reactions (abdominal pain, dry stool, hematochezia) were compared between the two groups on the 7th, 14th and 20th days before and after treatment. Results The scores of constipation symptom and self-rating anxiety scale score in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the scores of quality of life were higher than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, but there was no statistical significance between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion The application of polyethylene glycol combined with biofeedback therapy in patients with chronic functional constipation and anxiety can improve the symptoms of patients and relieve their anxiety level.
