Abstract:〔Abstract〕 Objective To explore the clinical efficacy of modified Huanglian Wendan Decoction in the treatment of poststroke depression (PSD). Methods A total of 80 PSD patients who were treated at Zhumadian Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from May 2021 to May 2023 were selected as the research subjects. They were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with paroxetine hydrochloride alone, while the observation group was treated with modified Huanglian Wendan Decoction on the basis of the control group. The psychological status, quality of life, and incidence of adverse reactions between two groups of patients were compared. After treatment, the quality of life scores of the two groups of patients were higher than those before treatment, and the scores of the observation group were higher than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups of patients (P > 0.05). Conclusion For PSD patients, the application of modified Huanglian Wendan Decoction can improve their psychological status and contribute to improving their quality of life.
